Parenting Assessments
Understanding Your Family's Strengths, Identifying Needs, and Building a Path Toward Success
At Northstar Behavioral Solutions, we understand that every family is unique and parenting comes with different challenges, experiences, and goals. Our Parenting Assessments provide a supportive, individualized, and nonjudgmental approach to understanding family dynamics, identifying strengths, and recognizing areas where additional guidance or skill development may be beneficial.
Our assessments take a holistic, trauma-informed, and family-centered approach, considering each family's experiences, relationships, communication styles, and individual needs.
What Our Parenting Assessments May Include
Parenting Strengths & Challenges: Identifying current parenting skills, strengths, and opportunities for growth.
Family Dynamics: Exploring relationships, communication, routines, and family interactions.
Behavioral Support: Understanding children's behaviors, emotional needs, and appropriate parenting responses.
Trauma-Informed Parenting: Recognizing how trauma, past experiences, and life transitions can impact parenting and family relationships.
Co-Parenting Support: Identifying strategies to improve communication, consistency, and healthy co-parenting relationships.
Parenting Education & Skill Development: Recommending individualized education, resources, and practical strategies.
Individualized Recommendations: Developing a plan to strengthen parenting confidence, promote stability, and support positive family outcomes.
Who Can Benefit?
Our Parenting Assessments may be beneficial for parents and caregivers navigating everyday parenting challenges, foster care, adoption, family transitions, co-parenting difficulties, or involvement with child protection services (CPS) and family court systems.
For families involved with CPS or the courts, we can discuss assessment needs and documentation requirements to determine whether our services are appropriate. Acceptance of any assessment or report is determined by the requesting agency or court.
Our Approach
We believe assessments should be about growth, not judgment. Our goal is to meet families where they are, provide meaningful feedback, and empower parents.
